Audi side assist: currently unavailable.

Over the pass two weeks I have been running into issues with the side sensors being disabled.  I received the following error on my virtual cockpit stating:  "Audi side assist:  currently unavailable.  Sensor vision restricted due to surroundings.  See owner's manual."

The vehicle is 4 weeks old and should not be having this type of issue.  I researched online and noticed that older versions of Audi A4 had these issues but I could not finding anything on the 2016 Audi TT because it is so new.  The issue typically occurs 10 - 15 minutes into my ride and the sensor on the mirrors stop working and I get this message.  I tried going through the virtual cockpit to re-enable the sensors but the option is grayed out.  The only option that work is turning off the vehicle and restarting the car; however, that only works for about 10 - 15 minutes before it disables again.  The issue occurs in heavy traffic, light traffic, no traffic, car cleaned, not cleaned, rain, or clear weather.  Over the last couple of days, I have noticed that I don't get the warning but the sensors are not working.  This is obviously a safety issue if you are using the sensors for blind spots.

I took the vehicle in to the Tyson's Corner Audi Service station on 3/29/2016 and looked into the problem.  They stated that they can definitely see that there is an issue and believe it is a hardware issue with the sensors and not software related.  However, because the 2016 model is so new they don't know how to repair the issue so the are going to completely replace both sensor modules.  The parts should come in next week and they said it will take three hours to replace.  I will let everyone know if the repair fixes the issue and how long it actually takes to resolve.  Of course everything is covered under warranty.
